On May 15, 2005 Moscow metro celebrated its 70-th anniversary. Mr.Wolfgang Meyer, the UITP president, Mr.Hans Rat, secretary general of the UITP and representatives of international metro organizations along with metro operators from Russia and CIS countries took part in this festive event.
That jubilee year witnessed many international conferences and Moscow metropolitan organized and hosted some of them. The meeting of UITP Rolling Stock Sub-Committee took place on September 26-29, 2005 and the session of the Community of Metros (CoMET) was held in October with Moscow metro being the chairman. From 60 to 80 representatives of international metro operators took part in each of the conferences and UITP authorities admitted the high level of organization of these events.
Having long-term partnership agreements, Moscow metro continues collaboration with American Public Transport Association (APTA) and metro operators of Paris, Seoul and Berlin.
Moscow metro and «Metro» association organized participation of metro operators in Russia and CIS countries in the 56-th UITP International congress of public transport which was held in Rome on June 5-9, 2005 and 80-th UITP metro assembly held in Bilbao on November 9-11, 2005.
