The station was opened as a part of a line section between Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad’ and Ulitsa Podbel’skogo stations.
Station design: single-vaulted shallow cast-in-situ station built to a standard design.

Track walls and a part of the vault are lined with dark metal and the floor is riveted with granite. Stained-glass panels with the images of various types of sports can be seen above the exit stairs (sculptor - A.Kuznetsov).
