Opening date: 15.05.1935 The station was opened as a part of the first Moscow metro line section.
Station design: three-vaulted deep-level pylon-type station with cast-in-situ lining built to an individual project.

The station features white marble pylons, white tiled track walls and granite floor of red and black colours. The second exit was inaugurated in 1968. The station had no central hall when it came into service. It was rebuilt completely in 1973-1975 and a central hall with a passageway to Kuznetsky Most of Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line was constructed. Pedestrian underpasses leading to Lubyanskaya ploshchad, the Polytechnic museum, Detsky Mir children’s store and Myasnitskaya ulitsa were also completed.
