Opening date: 15.05.1935
The station was opened as a part of the first Moscow metro line section.

Station design: three-vaulted shallow station with columns.
The station contains two rows of 23 columns.

Station architects: G.Krutikov, V.Popov

   The station features yellow and brown marble columns, black granite floor and white walls faced with ceramic tiles.
   The east ticket hall of the station (architects: N.Kolli, S.Andrievskiy) has a mosaic panel depicting Maxim Gorky. The west vestibule (architects: G.Krutikov, V.Popov) was demolished in 1949 and a new one was built in its place offering a transfer to Koltsevaya Line.

   Exit to: Sadovoe Koltso, ulitsa Ostozhenka, Zubovskiy bulvar and Komsomolsky prospekt.
