Opening date: 15.05.1935 The station was opened as a part of the first Moscow metro line section.
Station design: three-vaulted shallow station with columns. The station contains two rows of 23 columns.

The station features yellow and brown marble columns, black granite floor and white walls faced with ceramic tiles. The east ticket hall of the station (architects: N.Kolli, S.Andrievskiy) has a mosaic panel depicting Maxim Gorky. The west vestibule (architects: G.Krutikov, V.Popov) was demolished in 1949 and a new one was built in its place offering a transfer to Koltsevaya Line.
Exit to: Sadovoe Koltso, ulitsa Ostozhenka, Zubovskiy bulvar and Komsomolsky prospekt.
