Opening date: 11.09.1938 The station was opened as a part of the second stage of Moscow metro construction.
Station design: three-vaulted deep-level station with pylons built to the standard design.

The station features pale walls and pylons lined with Prokhoro-Balandinskiy marble and black and yellow granite floor. Round marble pillars with cannelures and cut-glass lamps rimmed with bronze add solemnity to the central hall. The ceiling is decorated with coffers and majolica bas-reliefs (sculptor - N.Danko). A bust of Yakov Sverdlov used to be located at the end of the platform (scuptor – A.Shlykov), but now only a pedestal can be seen there.
Exit to: Okhotny Ryad, ulitsa Bolshaya Dmitrovka, Teatralny Proyezd and Nikolskaya ulitsa, Manezhnaya ploshchad, ploshchad Revolutsii.
