Opening date: 05.04.1953 The station was opened as a part of a line section between Kievskaya and Ploshchad Revolutsii.

The pylons of the station hall are faced with Koelga marble and elaborately patterned ceramic tile with a Ukranian pattern. The plastered ceiling is decorated with a series of frescoes depicting life in Ukraine (sculptor G.Opryshko). The station features white and grey marble track walls, grey granite floor and a number of frescoes with the scenes of a happy life in Ukraine. The end of the central hall has a mosaic pannel celebrating the tercentary of the union between Ukraine and Russia. On the platform side the pylons bear frescoes with flowers. A group of artists worked at the design of the station, they are: V.Konovalov, V.Arakelov, P.Mikhailov, L.Karnaukhov, T.Konovalova, A.Shiryaeva, K.Aksyonov, I.Radoman. The station shares the vestibule with Kievskaya-Koltsevaya which is located in Kiev Railway station. The vestibule features white marble columns with wide cornices that conceal lighting and a round mosaic panel on the ceiling depicting the labour of Ukrainian people
