Opening date: 26.12.2009 The station opened as a section of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. Project name: Volokolamskoe Shosse Station design: column-type shallow station built to an individual design of insitu reinforced concrete. Vault height – 8.1 metres Distance between columns – 9 metres Station architects: Alexander Orlov, Alexander Nekrasov, co-author – Victoria Sycheva. The station is located in Mitino district at the beginning of Mitinskaya street. Two triangular (if viewed from above) vestibules with escalators are located on both sides of the station. The architects of Volokolamskaya station aimed at giving more space to the station. Three vaults, eight-meter high ceiling, airy arcades and extra distance between the columns – the combination of these factors makes the station look gorgeous and spacious. The station is faced with granite and marble. This durable material is traditional for Moscow metro and provides for long life of the station. Like other new stations of the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line, Volokolamskaya station is equipped with elevators for the disabled people. Exit to: Novotushinsky proezd, Tsarikov pereulok.
