The station was named after a nearby Alexander Garden. The station features two wide platforms with tracks in the middle and three rows of faceted marble columns. The walls are faced with white, yellow and grey marble and black ceramic tiles. The corridors are covered with white and yellow marble and white and greenish tiles. Arbatskaya was closed for reconstruction in 1953 and it was only in 1958 that this station was opened as a part of Filevskaya line section between Kievskaya and Kutuzovskaya stations.
