Opening date: 13.10.1962 The station was opened as a part of a line section between Oktyabrskaya and Novye Cheremushki.
Station design: three-vaulted pillar-type shallow station built to the standard project. The station features two rows of 40 columns.

The station was named for the Russian Academy of Sciences. The columns of the station hall are faced with light coloured marble. The track walls were initially faced with glazed ceramic tiles, but during the reconstruction of 2004 were replaced by vertical plastic panels of white and blue colours. The floor is paved with grey granite of different shades.
