The station is named for the nearby street which was a site of Barricades when the Russian Revolution of 1905 took place. The station hall features mighty trapezoid pink marble pylons, grey marble track walls with a strip of black marble at the basement and grey and red granite floor. The doorways of the central hall are decorated with aluminum panels (sculptors Kh.Rysin, D.Bodniek). The zigzag light fittings on the ceiling resemble street barriers. The ground-level vestibule is adorned with an aluminum panel and a sculpture (I.Dolgan, B.Shyrokov). Barrikadnaya was the first station of Moscow metro where illuminated signs were applied. The west end of the station hall has a passageway connecting the station with Krasnopresnenskaya station on the Koltsevaya line.
