Opening date: 17.12.1975 The station was opened as a part of a line section between Barrikadnaya and Kitay Gorod.
Station design: three-vaulted column-type deep-level station built to the standard project.

The station architects received a USSR Cabinet Council prize for the design of the station in 1977. The station is named for the nearby street. The columns of the station hall are faced with blue-grey marble and the floor is paved with black and grey granite. The station features white marble track walls decorated with forged aluminum plates (artist M.Alekseev). The south end of the central hall has a passageway to Lubyanka station of the Sokol’nicheskaya line.
